About
JUDITH PLOBERGER
Born in Munich, Judith was inspired to draw and paint at an early age by her father Herbert Ploberger, a renowned representative painter of the Neue Sachlichkeit movement in Germany/Austria who was also recognised as the leading anti-war-painter besides being a very a distinguished costume and set designer.
Trained at the Blocherer School in Munich, she worked as a graphic designer for a major record company for seven years and during the same period illustrated a number of 'underground' publications.
Judith moved to London in 1986 to bring up her family but continued to paint, working mainly on private commissions.
As her children get older, Judith is finding more time now to concentrate on painting and has returned to her favourite subject, people, and in her portraits, the influence of her father's realism is unmistakable.
Judith's painting is characterised by her sensual use of line and strong colour which springs from her early graphics training.
Since mid 2017 Judith lives & works near Berlin.
